Haakaa was founded in 2012 by a New Zealand mother searching for safe, eco-friendly products for her disabled daughter — and finding a market dominated by plastic, with nothing that met her standard. So she designed her own, starting with what would become Haakaa's signature manual silicone breast pump. That same drive to do better for both children and the planet still guides every product Haakaa makes today: all BPA, PVC and phthalate-free, and independently certified to ISO, EU and FDA standards.
The range has since grown from that first pump into a full line of breastfeeding, feeding and baby-care essentials, endorsed by healthcare professionals and stocked worldwide. Haakaa has also established the Haakaa Foundation to support maternity professionals, breastfeeding research, and families in need — and closer to home, Haakaa was named Best Maternity Essentials & Wellness Brand at the 2026 Mother, Baby & Child Awards, UAE.
